No offense, I'm just guessing that this site has a rather small community...

Just wondering, again, no offense...

Hi Scrollerdude and welcome.

This forum was one of the earliest anti-spyware forums around. It's popularity peaked and was quite busy, then as more security forums opened up things slowed down.

Then to make matters worse, the board became unattended by Admin and was over run by spammers posting links to every damn thing imaginable.

I had found this place and cut my teeth on doing HijackThis! log analysis and getting involved in helping others. After a brief time at another board and setting up my own site, I was finally able to rally the Admins and other moderators to reclaim this site.

I'm proud to say spammers can no longer post here and we can now offer the type of help this forum was renown for.

As more and more older users and new ones such as yourself find out, I'm certain we can become quite busy. I hope you'll stick around and find a place you'll like.

Let us know if we can make any improvements or changes.

Thanks again for dropping by.

This is true; what you're witnessing is the second rising of one of the original anti-spyware forums. The site was founded in 1999 (far before the name cexx.org existed; it was served from a dorm room on a numeric IP address) on the subjects Web anonymity and ad-blocking, and TSADBOT was the only spyware program to speak of. The primary focus shifted to spyware as it became more prevalent.

Over the years we've survived a crippling explosion of traffic and bandwidth overages, all of the founding members graduating into the world of fulltime jobs / marriage / kids (or combinations thereof), spyware lawyer scum, and the disappearance of the original fulltime administrator.

The boards are now administered by two full-access admins; myself (Tim) and TeMerc (Tom) - one of the founding members and a longtime trusted expert, respectively - to ensure that they do not fall into disrepair if something happens to one of us, and there is now a contingency plan for the ownership of the domain / etc. in the event of disaster. Most of the action is now in the Spyware - Help forum, but as TeMerc says, expect things to start picking up here. Very Happy

If I may?

Standby, your membership may improve somewhat in the coming period of time, not sure how much but will help promote your site to other forums if permissible?  I find your Forum very well done and the SMF being the most usable for a person on a dialup, which I am using.  Loads very quickly and looks GREAT!

All of the Good LUCK to you and all that post here,
