Culture Jamming

A few days ago my bro and I acquired a 60" projection television. I'm not a big TV addict, but I must say I was impressed: Crystal clear picture, perfect convergence, Picture-In-Picture, 5 digital surround modes, every feature you could imagine. The part that serves to amuse, shock, and possibly sadden is how we aquired it. It's a good thing we got to it before the garbageman did.

Granted, I piss off easily, but rich people piss me off.

One of my buddies' dad is a garbage man, and he is ALWAYS finding goodies in peoples trash.  Hes found televisions, couches, furniture, light fixtures, books... all kinds of stuff.  He then sells them to make money or keeps them.

one man's trash is another man's treasure.

interestingly enough, while awaiting the moving van to come and get my stuff and me and bring me to my new place, i remembered that i forgot to let my brother out of the basement.  i ran back inside for a bit, and when i came back out, my tv was gone!

i'm sure our stories are unrelated, though.......

This wasn't in one of the Chicagoland suburbs, was it?

A "how to find cool stuff in the trash"  guide would be pretty cool. I found a recliner, a desk, a couch and a stereo.

I have even gotten a good meal in tougher times, and I have found many boxes to help me move up in this world!

The chair I sit on now was pulled from a skip at our local Health Centre.
It is in perfect condition and I don't think I could go back to my swivel
chair. It has perfect lumbar support, it was just too good for dumping. I did ask storeman who would be in charge of that department if I could take it. Also lots of swivel chairs needing one wheel amonst other stuff.
It was a disgrage the amount of good stuff in there.

why would anyone throw away a tv like that?

I find cool stuff 5 days a week seeing as how I'm in the thick of it. I work at a Resource Recovery Facility or better known as a landfill. I have found MP3 players, DVD players, TV's, laptops and my favorite  $$$$$.
