I get many spam mails and most of them have a little, tiny link at the bottom saying "if you to unsubscribe send mail with topic -remove- at emailaddress" or something like that.

So... I'm thinking is this a window to little by little remove my self from all those spam mailing lists or is it just a cheap trick to prove to the spam sender that my e-mail address does exist and is active?

It's a really lame trick. Never hit 'unsubscribe' on a spam. In fact, most spam doesn't even have a real unsubscribe link, or it just has one to a nonsensical URL like http://blah or something...

Stupid spammers!

Worse than that, actually.  If there is a legitimate link, it'll be used to verify that it's a 'live' address, so they can sell it to other spamers.
