Wow! I remember AOL...My dad used to have that when I was a kid...when the internet was still very new for the public... i vaguely remember AOL 2.0 or something like that.  Stopped using it after a few months though, cause we found better prices and better (faster) services elsewhere...my aunt and uncle still use it though and they think its better than DSL!!! (LMAO!)

Not a lot of computer savvy people use AOL.

I don't know ANY computer savvy people who use AOL. Then again I don't know many computer savvy people...

Regardless, AOL knows how to market. People who don't know about computers (most of this world) really buy into "so easy to use" bullshit. Most of the time AOL users don't even realize there is an internet outside of AOL... oh well... I still think the internet should only be for computer geeks, but hey, those days are over with.

I used AOL at one point, but only out of desperation. I'm sure the bastards took an extra 50 quid off my credit card as well. On the whole the AO Hell program was bulky, patronising and annoying. I couldnt connect to the internet without opening AOLs browser and if I wanted to use IE I would have to minimise aol and have ie open. Which meant the two programs were open at once and using more system resourses. When you try and cancel, they persuade you to have some extra free hours and you have to tell them outright that your not interested. Thats frustrating. The worst thing is that you have to give your credit card number in the first place to get the 'free' hours.
