ok, im a kid..14 and would like to get past a tie limit my father has set for me..sometimes aol gets screwed up and stays on longer than expected, but i woul dlike to know if there is a way to always do that, because my dad is always putting passwords and codes on everything...???

I was certified as an AOL Technical Support Agent some time ago.  As far as I know, there is no way to bypass Parental Controls in AOL.

Keep in mind, even if you do figure out a way to get past it, AOL monitors everything you do, so if you are bypassing the Parental Controls, THEY WILL KNOW AND NOTIFY YOUR FATHER.  Also, if you do something against the rules, they can actually CANCEL YOUR FATHER'S ACCOUNT.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

I agree with you, MatahChuah.  After working in the bowels of the beast, I can tell you:  "All the horror stories are true!"
 

I knew it.  I don't see why people still use aol, there's cheaper and faster services out there that don't spy on you.  

I'll tell you why!  Those retarded commercials!  People will believe anything if you tell them enough times.  People just don't know what is available and what the choices mean.  A lot of what I do is consulting with people to explain what the differences are.

AOL spends more on advertising than all other ISPs COMBINED!

I feel sorry for them in a way.  (people who use aol)

I'm sure there are ways that -can- be found to do that, but that would be a "hack" - changing what the owner wants without his permission. And I think you'll find the mission here is just the opposite.

Soon enough, you'll get the chance to be responsible for your own system. When you need help to make it perform better, come back. There are some really good technicians here. But don't ask for help on a "hack" - moderators and admins will give those questions "das boot".

People come here to get help in fixing the damage caused by hijacks, viruses, trojans, and spyware. When you get your own PC, and spend hours and hours tweaking it to perform just the way you want, you'll understand what "Invasion of Privacy" is all about if someone "hacks" into your system and changes things.

The reason my family used to use AOL was back in the day after we stopped using "The Grid"  anybody remember that?  LoL.  Well we didn't know crap about computers, and we had about 15 free AOL discs laying around, every other person in the world that didn't know crap about computers was using it, so we started too.  AOL takes advantage of people that have no previous knowledge of the internet, by giving them "free hours!".  And theres plenty of people out there that know just that about the internet ~ nothing.  Not a lot of computer savvy people use AOL.  I still dunno much about computers, but I knew enough to uninstall AOL and reinstall windows, heh.

Ah, yes.  The same old story.  Mine is a similar one.  I remember(sometimes not so fondly) finding that disk in the mail...  I remember thinking "Well, they've opened the internet to the public, and I'm the public."  I remember waiting...  and wondering...  and learning.

But that was many years ago, and I have redeemed myself by helping my clients kick the AOL habit.  They save money...

  and learn.
