The latest version of this from http://www.patchou.com now contains some very bad stuff. Unless you notice an opt out button (don't know where it is because I did not notice it), it installs a Toolbar in IE, changes the search engine to lop.com and also keeps churning out adult / gaming popups. It also does other things such as changing the DNS.
It was very difficult to uninstall. Adaware could not get rid of it, nor could Spybot. Eventually I had to put my head into the devils jaws and use the unistaller from lop.com. Even now I keep getting cookies and registry entries from "data miner", which first appeared when I upgraded my Messenger Plus!
Some people in the Patchou help forum were not helpful, simply saying "it's your fault, you should have read the T&Cs", and that "Patchou is a good guy, he has to make money somehow".
It's just a pity that he didn't ask for donations or make his (otherwise great) software into shareware. I would have happily obliged. Now however I have removed it from my system, as I consider it a liability.
So beware, if you are happy with your present version, don't upgrade. I see here that it was originally considered to be good as it used to block MSN adverts, but now the opposite is true.
