Hi stevec123,

Could you post your HijackThis log
Download, Unzip and run HijackThis, Then click Scan > Save log, save the log as a .txt file and copy & paste its content into your next post.
Donīt fix anything yet. Most of what it finds is harmless.

Regards,

Pieter

Do a search of your REG. Search for mscache

Then be careful and delete all REG enteries that come up. Not the whole key just the ones related to mscache.
I found an entry in {E9400AF8-C6A2-45D0-B272-E3189541A5A0}, sub folder 1.0-sub folder 0 - sub folder win32 then I deleted the mscache there...I didnt delete the whole key just in case the computer needs it...I am not that much of a computer geek to know if I could delete the whole key E9400AF etc.I didn't even delete the win32 folder...

Delete your temporary internet files. Then do a find
files search for mscache. You should get all exe's and dll's etc....then delete...

If the popup window has a name you may search your registry for that name also..Note it will have to be a Registry search along with the find files search. Also try right clicking the pop window and view source. Sometimes this will provide a "lead" to search for...Disable java if your getting a pop up from certain web sites...Although I think some sites have worked around Java and can do it anyway...

Also check "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files" the folder with the special icon. This folder has class files and will most likely have a shochwave file there.Right click on these files and look at their properties most of mine are from Microsoft. These are active X files....I always delete the ones I don't think should be in there....

Remember if your not sure back it up before you delete...

Hello ,
I downloaded this stupid thing thinking it was something I wanted and can use for something I wanted to use. I scanned it and came up clean , but it kepted wanting to go to the net and i said nope!
I tried to delete it saaid windows was using it , I rebooted and still was there , and befor I could even dial up a net connection it would ask if it could go to the net , What a basty booger it was .
I ran adaware and it came up with nothing , so i ran spybot and it cleaned the regitries , then i went to start then to run then typed in msconfig , I went to the start up pograms and unchecked it then rebooted , after rebooting I checked to mae sure it was still not ruiing and it wasn't and then and only then was I able to delete it , now I have it no more and do not want it again .
After I got it and it started begging me to go to the net I did a search for mscache.exe and came up with this forum , and thanks to this forum gave me an unpanik idea how to remove it and stop it
Thank you for having this forum and I can see many have troubles with it and hope what I did will help others !
Thank you again for having this forum!

Check the items listed above in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked.

Reboot after doing so, preferably into safe mode
and delete:
C:\WINDOWS\mscache.exe
